DIAMOND BLACK HEARTED BOY
Mon, 22 Jun 2009 22:45:00 +0100On May 23rd that showed up at my doorstep. I was living at the Electric Company in French and since we were getting kicked out anyway (FUCK YOU NONDAS!), we had to have the best last show ever. My roommate Robert told me that in the 6 years he had lived there the only band he really wanted to play had been Mahjongg, so der! we made it happen. I was told to not book any bands other than Mahjongg, Laser Crystal. I told them its my house and I'm gonna play cause I said so. Then I asked Diamond Black Hearted Boy to play too. He mumbled some stuff and showed up at my house with some cotton candy the day of the show. Diamond Black Hearted Boy // 1984 Diamond Black Hearted Boy // Night II The show was pretty awesome. I most remember NNSFW/Niangua showing up outside of my house with a van that had the backseat taken out and replaced with sand and a kiddies pool that was full of water (live the dream, everyday). I also remember SOMEONE STEALING MY LAPTOP (hijo de la puta..). After that me and DBHB went out for tour. It was pretty much crazy and retarded and awesome and frustrating and fun. Basically it was everything in the world. I'm glad it's over. Download the Free EP 'Messages From The Other Side' Now, what do I do about my computer!? ... (Read complete news)
3 Octave Constant Fingering Major Scales
Tue, 16 Jun 2009 19:05:00 +0100Here's a new one that I may have "invented" since I have never seen it in any of the many many guitar books I have seen and have at home. Play any major scale starting on the 6th string and follow this pattern (see diagram above): Play whole steps (2 frets) with fingers 1, 2 and 4. Change to the 5th string to the same fret you started on, on the 6th string and play whole steps with fingers 1, 1 (again...slide it), 2 and 4. Change strings and the whole thing repeats itself. Pretty cool huh? The only snag is between the 3rd and 2nd strings you have to jump a fret to compensate for the difference in tuning between those two strings. Once you get the pattern down, you can really fly! (Read complete news)

Nirvana
Tue, 02 Oct 2007 04:56:00 +0100Days Of Thunder They were great, what else can you say, really? Their power came from their hearts, not just from their amps. And Cobain's words, the cloud of feeling in which he cloaked his simple song structures, came from a place you were sometimes glad you were only visiting, but were exhilarated to be visiting nonetheless. Their emotion was real, in a business — the pop-music business — in which most of what passes for emotion is just another calculation. Of course we miss them. They dealt with their stardom — their sudden, huge renown — by ignoring it, pretty much. They had no entourage, no hangers-on, no parade of retainers to lick their boots whenever the whim arose. Showing up for an interview, they would just walk into the room, unaccompanied, bringing along their own beer, likely as not. They were funny; they were nice guys. They had no attitude. Eddie Vedder, of Pearl Jam, would go on and on and on about how he hated rock stars, and how _he_ wasn't a rock star, no way, and ... well, after a while, this became a new kind of rock-star attitude, one that was even more irritating than the usual sort of celebrity affectation for being slathered with such tiresome jabbering. Kurt Cobain was quietly contemptuous of rock-star excess and self-regard, but he didn't feel moved to pontification about it. (Although Guns N' Roses — veritable emperors of excess — really did seem to drive him a little nuts.) They... (Read complete news)
